The starter
Kael is the usual recommendation: poison damage that scales into Clan Boss and a campaign farmer. Athel is a strong alternative with reliable damage and a weaken debuff. Galek and Elhain work but need more help. Whatever you choose, your starter is your first 6-star.
Free champions that carry
- Your new player code champion. Grand Oak Padraig (support with healing and cleanse), Coldheart (early damage, Dragon runs) and Ultimate Deathknight (tank with counterattack) are the popular picks. One per account; see the codes page.
- Login reward champions. The daily login track hands out champions over time, several of them worth building.
- The Arbiter. The Progress Missions end with the best free speed lead in the game.
- Fusion champions. Each fusion gives a Legendary to players who complete it.
Rares worth building
Rares that bring decrease defense, poison, weaken or speed buffs stay useful into the late game. Warmaiden, Spirithost, Apothecary and Frozen Banshee are classic examples. A well-built Rare with the right debuff beats an unbuilt Legendary in Clan Boss.
Choosing your first 6-star
- A campaign farmer first, usually the starter.
- A Clan Boss debuffer second, poison or decrease defense.
- A speed lead or healer third, which also helps dungeons.
Do not 6-star a champion because it is Legendary. Six-star the one your account needs next.
